A tiny together-time
00:40Today’s little quest
Would you like a hug?
A gentle start for little learners
The little lessons
Practice the words that make room.
My Space, My Choice turns familiar moments into simple practice: asking before a hug, hearing “no” or “stop,” and finding kind words for personal space.
A little chat together.
- 01
Ask before a hug.
Try asking, “Would you like a hug?” Then give the other person time to choose.
- 02
Listen to “no” and “stop.”
A no is a whole answer. When someone says stop, we stop and give them room.
- 03
Make space for everyone.
Notice your own comfort zone, practice kind words, and ask a grown-up for help when you need it.
For the grown-ups beside them
Keep the conversation small and sweet.
Each short lesson comes with caregiver discussion notes and easy questions to keep the chat relaxed. There’s no perfect script—just room to listen, wonder, and practice together.
Try a question, then follow your child’s lead:
- 1What could we ask before a hug?
- 2What can you say when you need more room?
- 3How can we show someone we heard their no?
Offer choices, take turns practicing, and let “not right now” be okay too.
